Croke Park Final by Jonathan

On Saturday I went to see the school play gaelic in Croke Park. The Larriers boys and the girls came out of the tunnel and the crowd cheered. They started the match and larriers got stuck in. Straight away Shayo scored and the crowed cheered. Larriers kept on scoring. Then the other team caught up with Larriers and the game ended. The game went into extra time. Larriers scored three more goals. Larriers won the trophy and we all went home happy.

Halloween in China and Germany

Another tradition in Ireland is that we sometimes scoop out the inside of a pumpkin and put a light in it. In Germany people put away all their knives because they don't want to hurt any ghosts that will be in their house. In china they take out photos of dead relatives and put food and water in front of them.

Halloween Traditions

Every Halloween we do some fun things and we call these things traditions. We fill a basin with water and stick our heads in to try to pick up money. We go around to different houses and get sweets and money. This is called trick-or-treating. My favourite tradition is the bonfire because I have lots of fun with my friends.

Magpies are black and white but have some green in their wings. They like to eat mice and ticks. They are often seen perching off the backs of cows picking off maggots and insects. Magpies steal things and kill other birds. Magpies throw other birds out of their nests. They give you bad luck, we have to solute them and they are also vicious birds.

Switzerland by Scott R

This week we are learning about Switzerland. In Switzerland they make good watches and they have nice chocolate. They have very big mountains called the Alps and they cover the country. Yodeling is a special type of singing in Switzerland. We listened to it on the computer and it was brilliant. The Swiss flag is white and red.

Next week there is a person coming into our class and she is from Switzerland. We are going to ask them questions like:
Where are you from in Switzerland?
Do you like our chocolate?
Is your time different to our time?
What sort of clothes to the boys wear in Switzerland?

Weekend Sport by Anthony

This weekend Ireland played Cyprus. Ireland scored the first one. Number 9 scored for them. I dont know what number scored for Cyprus but a half an hour later Ireland scored again. I thought it was a very good game because Ireland won.

On Saturday Sheriff played WEFTA. WEFTA went two nil up and then Sheriff's defence got better. Scott scored for Sheriff and half an hour later I came on as a sub and played up front. I was able to bang two goals in 4 minutes. We won 3-2 in the end.

Yesterday in Croke Park, Tipperary played Kilkenny in the All-Ireland Final. Kilkenny won in a very good game. Our teacher Mr. Brennan was at the game. Our hurling trainer Paul was at the game too.

Our Stories

The Burglar

One day I was in a jewellery shop and a big, huge diamond, red and shiny, was behind a glass case. I was terrified when suddenly a man with a gun burst into the shop and began to shoot at the glass case. He took loads of jewellery and put it in his pocket. I was so frightened, but I managed to ring the GardaĆ. In no time at all, the GardaĆ arrived and chased the burglar away. The man that owned the shop was so happy to get his jewellery back that he decided to reward me with the beautiful red diamond. To this day, the diamond hangs on my wall.

The Robbers

I woke up in my bedroom because I heard a loud noise outside my house. I looked out to see two robbers breaking in my kitchen window. One of them was wearing a black jumper, black trousers and a black hat. I could not see the other one clearly because it was so dark. The robbers looked up and saw me! I rang the police as quickly as I could and they began to chase me because they heard me on the phone. One of them tried to shoot me!I ran away and the police came and saved the day.

In our class we are learning about the life cycle of a Frog. We saw little eggs called frogspawn in a big tank of water. They all grew a tail and I think they are funny. The tadpoles use a tail to swim. They do not have their legs and arms yet.
